From Giza to the Plateau and the Egyptian Museum
You start in Giza and drive 12.2 kilometers to the Giza Plateau; the journey takes about fifteen minutes. On the plateau are the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, and several viewpoints in between. Then the tour takes you to the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square. The old building has changed: Tutankhamun and the royal mummies have moved out, but the statues of the three pyramid builders are still there. The duration is given as three to seven hours. You travel in a group; a private booking is not possible. The tour is led by a woman. It can be booked in German; other languages are Italian, Spanish, French, and English.

What the entry price includes and which items remain open
The tour costs from €31. Included are hotel pickup and the area ticket for the Giza Plateau; for the area ticket, the provider covers 700 Egyptian pounds, about €11. The area ticket does not cover the interiors of the pyramids. The interior of the Great Pyramid of Khufu is listed in the official price list at 1,000 Egyptian pounds (about €16); whether this tour includes it is left open by the provider. He also does not mention the entrance to the Egyptian Museum; the museum officially charges 550 Egyptian pounds. Lunch is available as an add-on; only two other offers in this category do the same. Tipping is customary in Egypt and not a surcharge for special service.

Hot summers, mild winters, and the question of the time of day

At the Great Gate: card payment, shuttle, and opening hours
The ticket office at the Great Gate, the main entrance on the desert road from Cairo to Fayoum, closes one hour before the site closes. You can only pay by card there. Since 2025, private vehicles are banned on the plateau; the electric shuttle is included in the ticket and takes you to the pyramids, the panorama point, and the Sphinx. Opening hours are given differently: officially 8 am to 4 pm, an older PDF says 7 am to 5 pm. In both cases, ticket sales close one hour before the end.
Who this tour suits and who should choose a different one
This tour is right for you if you want to visit the Giza Plateau and the Egyptian Museum in one day. It is less suitable if you prefer to see the necropolises of Memphis and Saqqara instead of the museum: for that, the provider offers the tour “Giza: Pyramid, Memphis, Saqqara with optional Dahshur and felucca tour,” which is also bookable in German and lasts three to eight hours. If you only have time for the plateau and the Sphinx, this combination of plateau and museum is not ideal; the half-day tours in the same category are then the closer choice.
