The months from November to February are mild: highs range between 19 and 25 degrees, lows between 10 and 16 degrees. From May to September, highs rise to 32 to 35 degrees, while lows remain at 22 to 24 degrees. The terrain offers little shade. For the four-hour tour, this means: in winter, the visit remains relatively bearable with daily highs around 19 to 25 degrees; in summer, you must expect values near 35 degrees. The time of day also determines how much of this range you experience; the low night values only help if the booked hours do not fall during the hot daytime hours.

At the Great Gate: card payment, ticket office closing, shuttle
The main entrance has been the Great Gate on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum since 2025. Payment at the counter is by card only; cash is not accepted. The ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. The official website states opening hours of 08:00 to 16:00, while an official PDF from 2020 states 07:00 to 17:00; the information is contradictory. Private vehicles have not been allowed since 2025. The electric shuttle covers the route between stops; its ride is included in the site ticket. The old gate at Mena House is no longer the main entrance; the Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter.
