The most pleasant months are December to February with highs between 19 and 20 degrees and lows between 10 and 12 degrees. From May, 32 degrees are reached, from June to August 35 degrees; in these months, lows do not drop below 22 degrees even at night. The site offers little shade. At the Great Gate: opening hours, card payment, shuttle
At the main entrance, the Great Gate, on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum, the ticket office closes one hour before the gate closes. The official website says 8 am to 4 pm; an older official source says 7 am to 5 pm. Payment at the ticket office is by card only, not cash; you should still carry cash for tips and small purchases. Private vehicles have not been allowed onto the plateau since 2025. The electric shuttle is included in the admission and stops at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the panoramic point, and the Sphinx. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket office.
Who this tour is for and who it is not for
The tour is suitable for travelers who want a guided tour in German and want to visit the plateau as part of an organized tour. It is not suitable for wheelchair users; the provider lists it as not wheelchair accessible. Nor should you book it if you expect a private or small-group tour, as the provider does not offer either. The alternative in the same category is the "Half-day private or group tour of the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx": four hours, from 25 euros, but without a designated German-speaking guide.
