At the Great Gate: card payment, ticket office closing, electric shuttle
The main entrance to the plateau has been the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road since 2025. The ticket office closes one hour before the gate closes. The official website lists opening hours as 08:00 to 16:00; an official PDF from 2020 lists 07:00 to 17:00 instead. Payment at the ticket office is by card only; cash is not accepted there. Private vehicles have not been allowed onto the plateau since the 2025 reorganization. The area ticket includes the electric shuttle; it stops at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, at the Panorama Point, and at the Sphinx. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket office.
