At the Great Gate: Opening Hours, Card Payment, Shuttle
Since 2025, the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road has been the main entrance to the plateau; the old gate at Mena House has been replaced. The official website lists opening hours from 8 am to 4 pm; an older official version lists 7 am to 5 pm. The ticket office closes one hour before the gate closes. Payment at the counter is by card only; cash is not accepted. However, you will still need cash for tips and small expenses. Private vehicles are not allowed onto the plateau. An electric shuttle operates between the stops: Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, Panorama Point, and the Sphinx, and is included in the site ticket. The Sphinx Gate remains open but has no ticket counter.
