At the Gate: Opening Hours, Card Payment, Shuttle
The main entrance to the plateau has been the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road since 2025. The ticket office closes one hour before the gate closes. Payment at the counter is by card only, not cash; cash is still needed for tips and small purchases. Officially, the plateau is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; an older figure is 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Private vehicles have not been allowed since the 2025 reorganization; an electric shuttle is included in the admission and stops at the pyramids, the panoramic viewpoint, and the Sphinx.
