Four Hours in Giza: From the City to the Plateau
You start in Giza and are out with Ramses tours for four hours. From the city to the plateau it is 12.2 kilometers; the drive takes about 15 minutes. The destination is the Giza Plateau with the three pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, and the viewpoints between these structures. Khufu is the largest of the three, Khafre the middle one and still partly cased at the top, Menkaure the smallest and with granite from Aswan at the lower levels. The Great Sphinx was carved from the existing rock, not built. The tour is a plateau visit; it is aimed at guests who do not want to worry about the route and organization on the site themselves.

Costs: What is included and what is added separately at the gate
You pay from €112 for the tour. This price includes hotel pickup in Giza, the accompaniment of an English-speaking live guide, skip-the-line access, and the site ticket for the Giza Plateau. For the site ticket, the provider covers the official 700 EGP, about €11. Whether lunch is planned or whether the provider covers a ticket for a pyramid interior is not stated. If you want to see the inside of Khufu, it costs officially 1,000 EGP, about €16; the Menkaure interior is listed at 280 EGP. The site ticket does not cover these interiors. Tipping is customary in Egypt, but not a surcharge for special service.

The coolest months are November to February, with highs between 19 and 25 degrees and lows between 10 and 16 degrees. From May onwards it gets hot during the day at 32 degrees, and from June to September the highs remain at 33 to 35 degrees. There is hardly any shade on the site. In the hot months, you should not schedule a four-hour visit for the middle of the day; the cooler hours in the morning or late afternoon are the more suitable time.

At the Gate: Card Payment, Driving Ban, and Changing Hours
Since 2025, private vehicles are no longer allowed on the plateau; you go up by electric shuttle or on foot. The main entrance is the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road, replacing the old gate at Mena House. The Sphinx Gate remains open but has no ticket counter. You can pay at the counter only by card, not cash. The official website lists the site as open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; an older official PDF lists 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In any case, the ticket counter closes one hour before closing time.
