Four Hours on the Giza Plateau: Start in Giza
The tour starts in Giza; the road to the Giza Plateau is 12.2 kilometers long, and the drive takes about 15 minutes. The plateau is the destination, and the tour lasts four hours. You will see the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx. The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the largest of the three, the Pyramid of Khafre is the middle one, and the Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest. The Sphinx is carved from the natural rock, not built from blocks; you view it from the terrace above, not next to its paws. The viewpoints between the structures are also part of the program. The ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. The official website lists opening hours as 8 am to 4 pm; an older official source lists 7 am to 5 pm.
