Ticket office closing, card payment, shuttle and gates
At the gate, the same rules apply to all visitors. The ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. Payment is by card only; cash is not accepted at the counters. Private vehicles have not been allowed onto the plateau since the 2025 reorganization. An electric shuttle is included in the site ticket and takes visitors onto the grounds. The official website lists opening hours as 8 am to 4 pm; an official PDF from 2020 lists 7 am to 5 pm. Since 2025, the main entrance is at the Great Gate on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum; the Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter.
Who this tour is for and who it is not for
This tour is right for travelers who want to see the plateau and the Sphinx from the outside and don't need a full-day trip for that. The provider lists the tour as wheelchair accessible. It is not suitable if you expect a German-speaking guide: such a guide is not indicated, and the provider says nothing about the languages of the live accompaniment. In that case, instead take the tour “Grand Egyptian Museum, Pyramids, Sphinx Tour and Lunch” from 83 euros; it lasts seven to eight hours and lists German as the guiding language. Those looking to book a private tour or a small group are also in the wrong place here.
