What the price covers and which tickets are extra on the day
The entry price starts at €95. This explicitly includes the site ticket for the Giza Plateau; at the ticket office it costs 700 Egyptian pounds, roughly €11. The provider covers this amount for you, so it won't be charged again on the day. Whether lunch, hotel pickup, or the interior of a pyramid is part of the program is left open by the provider; silence here is not an exclusion, but also not a promise. What applies at the Great Gate before you head onto the Plateau
Since 2025, access to the site has been via the Great Gate on the desert road from Cairo to Fayoum. The former gate at Mena House no longer has a ticket office; the Sphinx Gate remains open. The official website lists the site's hours as 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; an official PDF from 2020 differs with 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Be sure to note the ticket office closing time: it closes one hour before the site closes. Payment there is by card only; since 2023, the ticket office has not accepted cash. You'll only need cash on the plateau for tips and small purchases. Private vehicles remain at the gate; an electric shuttle runs between the stops at Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx.
Who the ride suits and when the alternative is better
The ride is right for anyone who wants to experience the plateau on horseback, is comfortable with a guide speaking English or Arabic, and plans for just two hours. It is explicitly not right if you expect a German-speaking guide or want to include the Grand Egyptian Museum in the day.
