Rules at the Great Gate: ticket office, shuttle, opening hours
The main entrance has been called the Great Gate since 2025 and is located on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum. Private vehicles are not allowed onto the plateau; you take the electric shuttle, which is included in the admission price and stops at Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx. Payment at the ticket office is by card only; cash is not accepted. Ticket sales end one hour before the site closes. The opening hours are noted differently: 8 am to 4 pm or 7 am to 5 pm; the information is contradictory. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter.
