You start in Alexandria; the departure point is the port. This tour by Sun Pyramids Tours lasts twelve hours. At the Great Gate: opening hours, card payment, and shuttle
The main entrance has been called the Great Gate since 2025 and is located on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road. The official website lists the site's hours as 8 am to 4 pm; the ticket office closes one hour earlier. An official PDF from 2020 lists 7 am to 5 pm; the sources contradict each other. Payment at the ticket office is by card only, not cash. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket office. Private vehicles have not been allowed on the plateau since 2025. If you don't walk, use the electric shuttle; it stops at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx.
