November to March are milder, with highs between 19 and 25 degrees and lows between 10 and 16 degrees. At the Great Gate: card instead of cash, shuttle instead of private car
The main entrance has been called Great Gate since 2025 and is located on the desert road from Cairo to Fayoum; the old gate at Mena House has been replaced. The Sphinx Gate remains open but has no ticket office. Officially, the plateau is open from 8 am to 4 pm; an older official source says 7 am to 5 pm. The ticket office closes one hour before the gate closes. Payment is by card only, not cash. Private vehicles have been banned on the plateau since the 2025 reorganization. Included in the area ticket is an electric shuttle; it stops at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx.
For a fixed itinerary with museum, not for a pure pyramid visit
This booking fits if you don't want to plan the museum and the plateau separately and want to take advantage of the possibility of a private booking. The tour is marked as wheelchair accessible. It is not the right choice if you only want to see the pyramids and the Sphinx and want to skip the museum. For that, there is the alternative “Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx: Half-Day Private or Group Tour” with four hours from 25 euros; this alternative does not list a German-speaking guide.
