What the entry price includes and what an interior costs
The entry price starts at €43. Included are hotel pickup in Giza, a guided tour with a guide in Arabic, English, or Spanish, and the site ticket for the plateau. The site ticket officially costs 700 Egyptian pounds, about €11; the provider covers this amount for you. Lunch is explicitly not included. The temperature values come from Cairo, the nearest official station; the city of Giza does not keep its own weather statistics. There is hardly any shade on the plateau. From May to September, highs range between 32 and 35 degrees; in the months June to August they reach 35 degrees, while lows remain at 22 to 24 degrees. From November to February it is noticeably cooler, with highs between 19 and 25 degrees and lows between 10 and 16 degrees. The provider does not specify a start time, so no time of day can be derived from the monthly values; you will need to ask the provider whether you experience the plateau in the morning, at noon, or in the afternoon. Ticket office closing, card payment, and getting to the plateau
The ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. Payment at the counter is by card only, not cash; cashless sales have been in effect since 2023. You will still need cash for small expenses. Private vehicles have not been allowed onto the plateau since 2025. You take the electric shuttle or walk; the shuttle stops at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the panoramic viewpoint, and the Sphinx. Since 2025, the main entrance is the Great Gate on the desert road from Cairo to Fayoum. The gate at the Sphinx is open but has no ticket counter. The official website lists opening hours as 8 am to 4 pm; an official PDF from 2020 lists 7 am to 5 pm.
