From Port Said to the Giza Plateau: A Day Trip

Hot summers, mild winters: the temperature curves of Port Said
The diagram shows average temperatures for Port Said, not for the plateau. The hottest months are June to August: daytime highs reach 31 degrees, and at night it only cools down to 25 degrees. Already in May, the average is 26 degrees, and in September 30 degrees. From November to March, highs remain between 18 and 24 degrees. The harbor excursion is scheduled for eight o'clock; the hours on the plateau thus fall into the warmest part of the day. At the Gate: Card Payment, Early Ticket Office Closure, Electric Shuttle
The official website states the site is open from eight to sixteen. An official PDF from 2020 states seven to seventeen; the sources contradict each other. What is certain: the ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. Since 2023, only card payments are accepted at the counter; cash is not accepted there. However, you should still carry cash for tips and small purchases. Private vehicles have not been allowed onto the plateau since 2025. An electric shuttle is included in the site ticket and stops at Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the panoramic point, and the Sphinx. The main entrance is the Great Gate on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum; the gate at the Sphinx is open but has no ticket counter.
