A Twelve-Hour Day from Port Said to the Plateau and Tahrir
This shore excursion starts at eight o'clock in Port Said and is scheduled for twelve hours. You drive to the Giza Plateau, 211 kilometers away; the one-way trip takes two and a half hours. On the plateau, Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure await, along with the Sphinx and the viewpoints between the structures. Afterwards, the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square is on the program. The old building still shows the statues of the three pyramid builders, while Tutankhamun and the royal mummies have moved out. If you come from a ship in Port Said and want to fit both stops into one day, you get a tight, clearly outlined daily schedule here.

What the entry price covers and what costs extra at the site
The entry price starts at 85 euros. The provider lists as included: the site ticket for the Giza Plateau, lunch, hotel pickup, and a live guide. German is specified as the tour language. So you do not pay the site ticket at the plateau; officially it costs 700 Egyptian pounds, about 11 euros, and the provider covers this amount. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.
Not included is the interior of a pyramid. If you want to go inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, you buy a separate ticket on site at the official price of 1,000 Egyptian pounds, around 16 euros. The interior of the Pyramid of Menkaure costs officially 280 Egyptian pounds. The provider says nothing about admission to the Egyptian Museum; the official ticket costs 550 Egyptian pounds for foreign adults, 275 Egyptian pounds for students. Tipping is customary in Egypt, but not a surcharge for a special service.

Rules at the Great Gate and the museum ticket office
Since 2025, the main entrance to the plateau is called the Great Gate and is located on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road; the old gate at Mena House has been replaced. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket office. The ticket office at the Great Gate closes one hour before the gate closes, and payment is by card only, not cash. Private vehicles have not been allowed on the plateau since the 2025 reorganization; if you don't walk, you take the electric shuttle, which is included in the admission price. According to the official website, the plateau is open from 8 am to 4 pm; an official PDF from 2020 states 7 am to 5 pm. The Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square is open from 9 am to 5 pm, with the ticket office closing at 4 pm.
