At the Gate, the Card Counts, Not the Cash
At the Giza Plateau, the ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. The official website lists opening hours from 8 am to 4 pm; an older official document lists 7 am to 5 pm. Payment at the counter is by card only, not cash. Private vehicles have not been allowed since the 2025 reorganization; if you don't walk, you take the electric shuttle, which is included in the plateau entrance fee. The main entrance is called the Great Gate and is located on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter.
