Ticket office closing time, card payment, and the new main entrance
At the gate, since the 2025 reorganization: the main entrance is the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road; it replaces the old gate at Mena House. The ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. At the ticket counter, only card payments are accepted; cash is still needed for small items. Private vehicles are not allowed on the plateau; if you don't walk, use the electric shuttle, which operates as a hop-on-hop-off vehicle serving the three pyramids, the panorama point, and the Sphinx. The ride is included in the site ticket. For the site, one official source says 8 am to 4 pm, another says 7 am to 5 pm. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter.
