At the Gate: Great Gate, Card Payment, and Electric Shuttle
Since 2025, the main entrance to the Giza Plateau is the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road; it replaces the old gate at Mena House. The Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter. The ticket counter closes one hour before the site closes. The official website lists opening hours as 8 am to 4 pm; an older official source differs with 7 am to 5 pm. Payment at the counter is card only, not cash. Private vehicles are no longer allowed onto the plateau since the 2025 reorganization. Visitors ride the electric shuttle, which is included in the site ticket and stops at the three pyramids, a panorama point, and the Sphinx, or they walk.
Who Should Book This Tour and Who Shouldn't
