Four hours from Cairo to the Giza Plateau

At the Great Gate: Ticket office closing time, card payment, and shuttle
The main entrance is the Great Gate on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum. The ticket office closes one hour before the site closes. The official website lists the plateau as open from 08:00 to 16:00; an older official document lists 07:00 to 17:00. Payment at the counter is by card only; cash is not accepted there. However, you will still need cash for small expenses. Private vehicles have not been allowed onto the plateau since 2025. The electric shuttle stops at Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx; alternatively, you can walk.
