At the Gate: Hours, Card Payment, and Shuttle
The official website lists the plateau as open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; an official PDF from 2020 says 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The ticket office closes one hour before the site. Payment at the counter is card-only; cash has been abolished there since 2023 and is only needed for tips and small purchases. Private vehicles are no longer allowed on the plateau since the 2025 reorganization; the electric shuttle, included in the site ticket, stops at Cheops, Khafre, Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx. The main entrance is the Great Gate on the desert road from Cairo to Fayoum; the Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter.
