One Day by Flight: Sharm El Sheikh, the Giza Plateau, and the New Museum
You start in Sharm El Sheikh and fly to Cairo; the flight itself takes about 60 minutes. Nevertheless, this day is scheduled for 16 to 18 hours, because between hotel pickup and return there are two airport transfers, the drive to the Giza Plateau, and the way back. The operator is Book Tour Egypt (BTE). The program leads to the three pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and then to the Grand Egyptian Museum, two kilometers from the plateau. The tour is guided live and, among seven offered languages, explicitly also in German. What is included in the price and what is added at the gate
From €285, the site ticket for the Giza Plateau, lunch, and hotel pickup are explicitly included, as is the flight between Sharm El Sheikh and Cairo. The official site ticket costs 700 Egyptian pounds, about €11 at the exchange rate of 59.14 pounds per euro, as of September 3, 2026; this amount is already included in the tour price and is not charged again. Not included is the interior of a pyramid, which the provider explicitly excludes. The interior of the Great Pyramid of Khufu costs officially 1,000 Egyptian pounds, about €16, if you wish to visit it additionally. This omission is rather the exception in the category of nine tours from Sharm El Sheikh: only two of the other eight offers exclude the interior as well. At €285, this tour also ranks 6th out of 9 by price, thus in the most expensive third of its group, whose range spans from €58 to €405. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before.

When the heat hits
This chart shows that Sharm El Sheikh has a climate from June to August with highs around 37 to 38 degrees, leaving hardly a cool hour; even the lows are then 26 to 28 degrees. For a day of 16 to 18 hours, a significant part of which is spent on the plateau with little shade, the months of November to March, with highs between 22 and 27 degrees, are the clearly more tolerable choice. April, May, September and October, with highs of 30 to 35 degrees, lie in between.

At the Giza Plateau itself, the ticket office closes one hour before the end of opening hours, and payment there is by card only, not cash. Since the reorganization in 2025, no private vehicles are allowed on the site; you get around on the electric shuttle, which is already included in the site ticket for this tour and runs between the three pyramids, the Sphinx, and a panoramic viewpoint. Cash is still needed, though, for the customary tip in Egypt – not a reward for special service, but a habit.
Who the flight is worth it for
This tour suits travelers who don't want to spend the overland journey of 502 kilometers and around six hours each way on top of the actual visit, and are willing to pay a noticeably higher price for that. If you'd rather save money and accept a much longer bus ride, you'll find a cheaper alternative in the same category with the “Day Trip to Cairo, Pyramids, Sphinx and Giza Museum” by bus from 81 euros, which even has a broader review base with 4.8 out of 1,050 reviews.
