At the Gate: Opening Hours, Card Payment, Shuttle
The official hours for the plateau are 08:00 to 16:00; an older listing says 07:00 to 17:00. The ticket office closes one hour before the gate. Payment at the ticket office is card only; since 2023, no cash is accepted there. Still, bring cash for tips and small purchases. Private vehicles have not been allowed on the plateau since the 2025 reorganization. If you don't walk, use the electric shuttle, which is included in the site ticket and stops at the three pyramids, the panoramic point, and the Sphinx. The main entrance since 2025 is the Great Gate on the desert road from Cairo to Fayoum; the Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket office.
