What the entry price covers and which entrance fee is added
The entry price starts at €949. Lunch is included, as is hotel pickup in Cairo and the accompaniment of a tour guide. At the Great Gate: opening hours, card payment, shuttle
The main entrance to the plateau has been the Great Gate on the desert road between Cairo and Fayoum since 2025. The ticket office closes one hour before the gate closes. The official website lists opening hours from 8 AM to 4 PM; an older official source differs, listing 7 AM to 5 PM. Payment is by card only. Private vehicles have not been allowed onto the plateau since 2025. The electric shuttle is included in the site ticket, operates hop-on/hop-off, and stops at Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx. The old gate at the Mena House has been replaced; the Sphinx Gate remains open but has no ticket office.
Who should book this package and who shouldn't
This package suits travellers who want a German-speaking guided tour combining several destinations. It doesn't suit you if you only want to see the Giza Plateau; then the day alternative "Grand Egyptian Museum, Pyramids, Sphinx Tour and Lunch" is the cheaper choice: 7 to 8 hours, from €83, also with a German-speaking guide. It doesn't replace Alexandria or the balloon ride. If you expect a privately booked group, you won't find that option here; a small group is also not specified.
