Great Gate, card payment and electric shuttle
The main entrance to the plateau has been the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road since 2025; the old gate at Mena House has been replaced. The Sphinx Gate remains open but has no ticket office. The official website lists opening hours as 8:00 to 16:00, while an older official version says 7:00 to 17:00. The ticket office closes one hour before the respective site closing time. Payment at the counter is by card only; cash is not accepted. Private vehicles are no longer allowed on the plateau since the 2025 reorganisation. Instead, an electric shuttle runs with stops at Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the Panorama Point and the Sphinx.
