At the Gate: Tickets, Shuttle, and the Great Gate
The opening hours of the plateau are given differently: 8 am to 4 pm or 7 am to 5 pm. Ticket offices close one hour before the respective site closing time. Payment at the counter is only by card, not cash. Private vehicles have not been allowed on the plateau since 2025; if you don't walk, you use the electric shuttle, whose ride is included in the site ticket. Access since 2025 is through the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road; the Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter.
