At the Great Gate: opening hours, card payment, and shuttle
The current official figure for the site is 08:00 to 16:00; a 2020 figure was 07:00 to 17:00. The ticket office closes one hour before the gate closes. You pay at the ticket office only by card, not cash. Since 2025, the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road is the main entrance; the old gate at the Mena House has been replaced. The Sphinx Gate remains open, but there is no ticket office there. Private vehicles are no longer allowed onto the plateau. The site ticket includes the electric shuttle, which runs hop-on/hop-off to Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the panorama point, and the Sphinx.
