At the Gate: Opening Hours, Card Payment, Driving Ban
The Giza Plateau is currently officially open from 8 am to 4 pm; an older official source says 7 am to 5 pm. Ticket sales close one hour before the end of opening hours. Payment at the counter is by card only. Since 2025, private vehicles are no longer allowed on the plateau. The main entrance is the Great Gate on the Cairo-Fayoum desert road; the Sphinx Gate is open but has no ticket counter. The electric shuttle from the main entrance stops at the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the Panorama Point, and the Sphinx; it operates as a hop-on/hop-off service and is included in the admission price. You can also explore the site on foot.
Who This Flight Is Right For and Who Should Choose the Ground Tour
The flight is right for travellers who are comfortable with Arabic or English and want to see the pyramids from above.
